Professor Gordon Walker and Lara Fenton, PhD Student will be speaking about:
“Institutional and Individual Research Productivity in Leisure Studies”
The first part of this presentation examine whether the institutional concentration of North American leisure research changed between 1990 to 1999 and 2000 to 2008, based on a variety of productivity metrics. Findings suggest that while more universities are doing a little, a few are doing more. The second part examines the personal, institutional, and other factors the most productive leisure researchers reported affected their refereed article productivity between 2000 and 2008. Findings indicate, for example, that the most prolific researchers are intrinsically motivated, committed to the field, able to mentor graduate students, and have sufficient resources available.
Everyone is invited to attend, especially to come out and support a fellow grad student!
